1. Boot Linux from sdcard
2. sudo dd status=progress bs=512 if=/dev/mmcblk1 | gzip > /media/pine64/Elements/Bliss-pine64_pinebook_20170830_01.img.gz

I think all that will do is create a backup of your emmc. What youre looking for is maybe something like
$ sudo gunzip -c /path/to/backup.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdX

I have not tried it yet, so please do not quote me on it. it might be missing quite a bit to work properly.
That indeed is just to restore a backup image. Currently, the best known method to move to EMMC is found here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4534&pid=28873#pid28873

No ! the command you are showing is restoring a backup, not doing one.

Here's some info:

Bit lower in the post on that page it reads:
Quote:"Bliss Nougat for Pinebook and Pine64 was updated to support Widevine DRM (for Netflix and other video services) as well as a few minor updates, added features and improvements to Freeform window behaviour. So far no negative feedback from this release, so we are counting that as a WIN!"

Bravo

To bad not to have VPN working, and no update instructions for eMMC instalation. Sad

I would at least appreciate any technical comment like, forget about VPN and forget updates, you have to install everytime new fresh image.
