RE: Shipping Progress - Inuyasha - 05-10-2016

EVERYONE who is a KickStarter backer should be receiving the updates via KickStarter, some of which told about delays. KickStarter backers are just that...backers, which can also be considered investors. We're investing in their ideas. By pledging, you are (usually) backing startups. Sometimes these things can bring in a LOT more backers than anticipated, which is just one of the many things that can cause delays. If you notice when you are choosing a reward, the date shown is an estimated delivery date, not something set in stone. With the issues and delays the Pine team has run into, they are still managing to crank out shipments at a now impressive speed. Hang tight...you will get your stuff. Heck, I'm STILL waiting for my Coolest cooler, and that one ended back in 2014, but am still hopeful that I will get it.

BTW, I have not received my backer rewards and items, yet, either. Just waiting patiently for them, as last I heard, they are anticipating having all backer rewards to be shipped by end of May/beginning of June.

RE: Shipping Progress - g_t_j - 05-10-2016

All these are good points. However, the ks update (which by the way was not released too long ago) promised all orders by backers-except those with 1-2 specific accessories- would have been fulfilled by the end of the first week of May. We are approaching mid May and not only we have not received a trace that our orders have been shipped out, but a specific backer just a few messages above has been told that his order won't ship until the end of the month! It worths to be noted that the aforementioned backer has pledged for a couple of boards and psu's. Nothing fancy that is known to have caused the delays so far. My order is pretty similar to that one and have not received anything while I will be away for June. Sorry I couldn't forsee back in January that my March pledge won't be delivered before summer....

That said, I fully respect and appreciate the efforts by TL Lim (the guy is a perfectionist and strives for the best day and night in here) but it seems they have left him all alone in this while Johnson already advertises new ventures through his profile on FB.

A bit more respect towards the people who backed you in the first place would help me thinks.
I'm waiting for a new ks update to clear things up and shed light to what happened and that last April's update went wrong one again. I feel this is the least they have to do.

As a side note, I enquired about the status of my order three days ago and have not got any response as of now. I have been patient all this time but if I won't receive my order by the end of this month I'll have to cancel for the reason already stated.

Z-Wave already build, currently under testing due to we force to switch from Mitsumi module to Sigma Design module. In general, we believe Sigma Designs module (original Zwave) module not as good as Mitsumi. However, Sigma Designs don't want to sell their chip to Mitsumi to build module and we have no choice and need to use Sigma Designs one. Our initial testing Sigma Desigm EU module performance can be acceptable but US module suck !!!

If the Sigma modules are bad why would Mitsumi buy them? This entire explanation seems convoluted and the fact that you are ok with shipping a module that as you state "sucks"... is disturbing. I too would be more interested in alternative items over a subpar replacement to what was originally expected to be delivered.

I hear you. I'd love to see more updates, too. I'm expecting mine will be in one of the last shipments to go out. I pledged for the 4K Media Kit, and added on some extras. IoT, Playbox, and Media kits are supposed to be the last ones going out.

Yep. Playbox enclosure, LCD screens, ABS cases and Zwave modules are known to have been delaying shipments from way back. Wish I had known my order would go out last like you due to specific items. Thing is I didn't order anything that was supposed to cause delay in the first place.

Hope they come back with an update soon...

Can you point me to the official update(s) that announce the delay of the Z-wave modules? I have saved all the update emails sent through KS and I can't find any information at all regarding Z-wave. In the last official update on May 2nd, Johnson wrote:
Quote:Components Updates: The only components we are currently missing are the two ABS cases and the LCD screen.
Not a word about the Z-wave module being redesigned.

In the update on April 19th, it was said that
Quote:The last accessory to hit our office is a few of the ZWave boards and POT boards as they are awaiting certification and will hit our office April 29th.
If they didn't arrive then (and later had to be redesigned), why haven't this been communicated?

+1

I held my order down to a minimum to get my board as quickly as possible, I had a lot of other things on my wish list but decided to order those later to speed up the delivery. Unfortunately the only add-on I chose seems to be the last one to arrive.

Last update stated this was not one of the missing in stock items. So your saying it is not in stock yet?

RE: Shipping Progress - TheMonkeyKing - 05-11-2016

Okay, this is really, really bad behavior.

Please give me concrete answers to this:
  • Is the Z-Wave module ready or not (we all have the previous emails saying the Z-Wave modules have come and they are ready to ship
  • Does the Z-Wave module work or not? I don't want a "well...it is not working the way we thought it would. It may take some re-engineering to solve certain issues..."
Please answer these questions. I ordered the temp/humidity and Z-Wave modules for specific testing purposes. If they don't work, I cannot spend the time trying to troubleshoot software or hardware (or both) problems. I need to focus on nailing down any issues I have with my code and mechanics.

These two units are addons that came from backerkit and have no real attachment to the KickStarter campaign. I was charged two separate times; one for kickstarter and another from backerkit. So I do have recourse in reversing charges with Visa and backerkit.

So please tell me: what is/are the issue(s) with Z-Wave that no one has been telling us? All along I and others have assumed it was building and shipping delays and not at all about functionality. I'll wait until Friday for an answer. If I feel like I'm being sold inferior goods, I'll have Visa reverse the charges to backerkit and then you guys can just ship me the Kickstarter reward (The PINE A64+ w/ 2GB SDRAM [March 2016]).

That doesn't sound promising. I'll have to agree with TheMonkeyKing that a module that is only acceptable is hardly good enough, I need a module I can trust.

How do I cancel my order? I'll go with an A64 board only if possible
Kickstarter or preorder? If Kickstarter noooooooooo luck considering you didn't "Order" anything... You pledged to support a project and in return were promised a reward...

I have POT board in my order #23,669. My card was charged on March 10 2016. The order status is still "Ready To Ship".
Is this POT board making such huge delivery delays?
Please, update the current status.

dimia, I just think that there are a lot of folks who have been left behind.  I have a similar backer number (20,809) for March delivery, and didn't add on any of the items that have been listed as delayed in any of the updates on Kickstarter or this thread.  I was also charged on March 10 and am listed as "Ready to ship".  Long story short, it most likely doesn't matter that you added on the POT board, you probably wouldn't have received your order yet either way.
