Did you by chance download http://files.pine64.org/os/sdk/A64-ver2.0/A64-Android-6.0-SDK.zip ? That is the Android source SDK and not a disk image. AFAIK there are no Marshmallow images released yet...

You'll note the file name specifically says its an SDK.

be sure to select the correct one based on your display choice.

I did not download the SDK, I downloaded the one off the same page you just included. The question was asked if I had downloaded the SDK, and I replied that I had not. It may be possible that they have the SDK hyperlinked rather than the IMG though.
