once the screen starts working it seems to continue working after a reboot
I even get some terminal stuff on the screen before X windows starts up.
In fact even if I do a halt, disconnect the power and then do a cold boot, the screen works.

I'm not getting a DHCP IP address from the eth0 though

I confirm until the reason is incomprehensible.

mara, if I compile my own Kernel and want to drop it into your SLARM64 image, how would I create a new uInitrd file please?

for this there is /boot/rebuild-initrd.sh, boot with the new kernel and run the script.
or use the function from the assembly script.

The above XFCE has broken link, here is the working link: http://dl.slarm64.org/slackware/images/quartz64/slarm64-current-aarch64-xfce-quartz64-4.19.220-build-20211208.img.zst

Hi Mara
If I compile and boot a kernel that I compiled myself, how do I populate /lib/modules/{version}?
currently I only have /lib/modules/{oldversion}
I can see all of the .ko files listed when the modules were compiled, but then there are all the other files like aliases

I am assuming that there is some normal way to do it that I don't know.

Until I have a /lib/modules I can't run rebuild-initrd.sh

after compiling you did:
Code:
make O=$(pwd) ARCH=arm64 INSTALL_MOD_PATH=/lib/modules modules_install

I am cross compiling on a normal PC.  Does that make a difference?

no, specify where to install the modules and then transfer to the sdcard
