Perhaps this piece of the safety/control software is still in an "alpha/or beta" stage, possibly causing some of the charging issues.  ?

In the past few weeks the phone does not get as hot as it did previously.

This insight is interesting, it is good to know that the power management topic is being refined.

Yes maybe this is a safety mechanism, but if that is the case, we know that currently it surely does not work correctly - since even after the charging sequence is being stopped, it is never being resumed, even after the battery state had gone from 94% down to 86%, so surely something to be looked into by the hardware / software team.

I seem to be having some aggressive problems with my pinephone that just arrived. It is freezing after ~5-10 seconds after boot, every boot. The LED is also flashing red while it is frozen, while plugged in and not plugged in. I've tried rebooting quite a few times. After booting it goes to the screen where it is asking for my wifi password, the on screen keyboard appears, but things freeze almost immediately. No response from screen touches, and the power button doesn't turn the screen on and off. I have to long press power to turn the device off, but a reboot lands me in the same spot. Should I just try flashing from a micro sd? (the slot in the case where the OS sd should have been was empty, but I do have some at my disposal)
