I check every night the forum, if there is any news regarding the DAC.

I check every night the forum, if there is any news regarding the DAC.

I have been busy with other things, but will try the DAC prototype this weekend - its a promise.

I'm just another Pine64 user eagerly watching and hoping for any advice about the progress of the ext. DAC. 
Not looking for an ETA (unless one already exists), just keen to find out how the project is progressing?

So I didn't keep my promise and didn't test out the prototype - mostly due to laziness, as it would require a fair bit of figuring traces and hand soldering GPIO pins. Also, I really should test it on a Pine64 - and all my boards are doing work, so I only have SoPines at hand which aren't compatible with the volumio image.

Now that I excused myself, a new fully working DAC is on its way to gkkpch - so the volumio guys will have it soon. My working sample should ship a little later. The most important thing is that gkkpch gets it soon and (probably with the help of Xalius et al) gets it working on their image.

Do you mean that the DAC in not pine compatible with the pine64?

No, it means there was an error on the prototype, which has now been fixed.  
gkkpch has a fully functioning unit.

No, it means there was an error on the prototype, which has now been fixed.  
gkkpch has a fully functioning unit.

Finally had time and crucial help from , we now have a working version of volumio with the PINE64 ES9023 DAC. 
Currently only RCA output, but hopefully we can also add spdif soon (we seem t be close).
I will post updates when we have any...
