Hey Y'all,

  A very new noob here.
Does the video output type on the pine64 limit the kinds of video components usable?
In other words, could I hook it up to an old tube-type Magnavox or Zenith television?

Thank you all.

Your options are HDMI only at the moment, really. People are having issues using HDMI to VGA/DVI adapters, so connecting up to old tube TVs is not something that is probably top of any agenda to get working, however disappointing that might be to hear.

Having said that, what type of connectors do the TVs mentioned use?
Just the usual, old antenna conectors and RCA A/V connectors.

Sorry about replying sooooo late, but I don't have internet at home. :-(

Ah, ok. Yeah, even if it is going to happen, I think some kind of HDMI to RCA adapter module is still a long way off. Pine64 Inc have to weigh up the advantages to producing such a module. If enough people are interested in it, then they might.

Thing is, you have people pulling in both directions, those wanting 'backwards compatibility' with old style screens and monitors, as well as those wanting compatibility focusing on the various modern monitor resolutions and the newer 4K television standard (and beyond). It's something of a juggling act, I guess.
