This message above was posted Feb 23. As of April 6, there aren't any Rock64 Android 8.x images anywhere. Neither on the pine64.org site or elsewhere (Ayutan's still 7.x). Do folks think they will be available?

Rockchip already have the Android 8 beta code work on Rock64 board and we are currently waiting for their release.
Dear Tllim,

Any update on Oreo ?

Regards.

Any updates to the timeframe?
In April, there were replies that Android Oreo (8) would be released. Then another guy saying wait two weeks. Now it is near mid-June and still no news. From the looks of it, it seems any new release of Android and all development is dead. Nothing has been updated since January, Oreo is coming near the end of its cycle, and the release of Android P is just around the corner.

Should we expect then that all development is halted for ROCK64 users?

I think so.

Reported that Amazon Prime doesn't work, HDR doesn't work since last year.
4K@60hz video is also downscaled to 1080p.
So 4K and HDR is just false advertising.
Even if Oreo is released before the end of the year, it will contain so many bugs, it won't be ready for daily use.
New RockPro64 has been released, so all work will be focused on it instead.
Hope I'm wrong but 8 months of no Android updates is a long time for a development board that is supposed to get more updates than a regular tv box.
Never any Android TV BOX , phone with not have forever give you security update ,
You can go to find another have security update SBC Android board , If you can see it.
But if you can't to see another have this  , your request pine64 to do it  , this ...........maybe make some wrong

But if you talking  only upgrade Android 8 , i think is they release new version ............ from space release to the earth.  so we waiting very long time . Big Grin
