Has anyone had luck with audio input using the 3.5mm jack?

The audio out works fine, but I'm unable to record any sound.

I've tested using the old android 5 and the newer Android 6.0.1 (32 gb image, lcd/hdmi)

The camera, audio out, lcd / hdmi all work.
On mine, I had to fiddle a bit with the 3.5mm jack. After a few twists, I found a position in which the microphone also worked.

By the way, did you test the Pine camera or an USB camera?

I'll have to see if that somehow works.  I've tried with a few diff mics and none seemed to work.

I have had success with the Pine camera.  I haven't tried plugging in a USB camera though.  I was hoping to create a temporary makeshift baby monitor with a skype account, the pine camera and a mic.

By fiddling with the jack.. do you mean you just put the mic in, and wiggled it around for a while until it worked?
one thing to check is that you are using the proper plug for the audio socket on the pine64. information on the differing layouts of plug/socket is offered on this page.

Yes, this is exactly what I did. Not sure what's the proper plug for Pine64, I just used a Samsung phone headphones. Make sure to insert the jack all the way in.

I've noticed that after reboot you have to unplug the microphone and plug it back in.

I forgot to mention that this was working on android-ver5.1.1-20161208-pine64-32GB.img.gz
