I have a compatible usb UVC camera but it does not come up as a front facing camera. Is there any way to check this. Also when will the source be released for the kernel for the latest update? I know there have been UVC camera HAL's made for android so that usb cameras can be used.
The camera is a logitech C615

I have Logitech C615 is my table and always use this model to try out, and it seems works in my case.

I have Logitech C615 is my table and always use this model to try out, and it seems works in my case.
Just to double check, by works you mean you can use the camera app and it detects the webcam as front facing? If so the OTA hasn't fixed that issue for me. I cannot use Skype and the camera app does not pick up the camera/webcam. I've applied the OTA file supplied from the wiki.
I also do not have the front facing himax camera, just the usb one.
Did it work on a OTA'd build and fresh install from the latest build?
The camera definitely doesn't work, I don't have the himax camera. Can you try without the himax camera attached and just the usb camera please?
I have a Trust UVC USB camera and the Pine64 doesn't recognize it. It says it's impossible to connect to the camera

Sorry on slow response due to traveling. I have using Logitech UVC camera on early August and seems works well. I am currently start checking on Android 6.0 release and will recheck this situation again on weekend. Somehow, during my last try, not all camera app "happy" on such configuration, and please download few Android camera app and check out.
The issue is it is not being picked up as the front camera. Neither the camera app (default one) or skype can see it. I can use generic usb webcam software and it has come up once when I quickly switched between the usb camera app and skype but then it quickly turned back off again. I haven't been able to reproduce this again.

I am now attempting to build a Nougat ROM with support in it as I found someone who made a HAL library for V4L2
you need something like this to get the v4l2 drivers to work with android natively
