There has been little discussion on gaining root access on RemixOS on the Pine64. I found a guide on rooting the PC version but that guide is dependent on the OS being ran from a squashfs image. On the Pine64, the files directly accessible when the SD card is mounted on a linux box. If I am root on the linux box I can access and change any file I choose. With that being the case I would assume that gaining root access may be a bit easier. I am just unsure of what needs to be changed, added, or removed. If someone will help me resolve this, or find the appropriate information I'll work on it.

my guess is the quickest way to get a rooted remix build is to organize a campaign to request jide to offer a rooted pine64 build. the more owners that will request the rooted build from jide probably the sooner they will realize the support and offer it. if several hundred pine64 owners would send a donation along with the request i think jide would offer it quickly.

I have asked Remix folks, they have no intention to provide a rooted Remix version.
So, Its on us then. I'm going to post to the AndroidCentral forum and see what they have to say on the matter.
yes, i guess it is on us. is having root access a "feature" of an o/s? perhaps. jide has a feature request page on their website. bottom line this is perhaps an easy way to let jide know that you would like root access on the pine64 build.

I kind of took it as a given that rooting an SD install would be fairly simple, has anyone here been successful?
Hi guys,

I would also like to use rooted RemixOS.
Just get Android 7.0, Jide are bunch of lame losers.
