sometimes, my pine64 shows the startup screen for several minutes on startup, and then indicates that it is optimizing apps.
does this mean that the pine has done automatic  firmware / android updates or what's the reason for this behaviour?
I have also noticed this sometimes when the Pine boots.

I don't think that this has anything to do with OTA (Over The Air) updates.

We have not release any OTA yet and plan to make one on next week.

This is great news!
so what else is the reason for this strange behaviour?

Android OS once a while working optimization on certain apps when boot up. How is process work still mystery to me and i occasionally spot this on my Android tablet and phone.
I found this was happening after what I would call an "unclean" shutdown mainly related to initial attempts to power my pine64 using a microusb cable and the associated voltage drops causing it to lock up.

Once I wired up my own power cable with a much thicker conductor (speaker wire) and dumped a shutdown widget on the desktop to manage shutdowns and the problem has completely disappeared.
