Hardware can support 24p but current Android OS version only support 60p.
Thank you for this information!
I hope this will be solved at some time.
Isn't supposed 60p be better than 24p?

For watching movie, 24p is better. This due to movie is recording using 24 frame per second. When convert from 24 to 60p, it need to insert frame and this process known as "three-two pull down", here is the link that explain in detail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-two_pull_down. This means using 24p playback movie is "smoother" than 60p. When engineering resource time allows, we definitely interest to implement 24p.

tllim very well described why 24p is better in some cases.

My TV support 24p playback so I like watch 24p videos in original frame rate.
I played some videos on the Pine64 (android_dd_20160112 image).
The videos were on a USB stick.

The 1080p (30fps) videos played fine even with the default Android video player.

The 2160p videos (30fps) were jerky and the audio lost synchronization with the video.
It also could be due to the old and slow USB stick I used.

I tried the MX player, the Video player installed on the Android image and also the default Android video player.

The 4K file that you plays back is H.264. The Pine A64 spec stated that H.264 only up to 1080p. We will try to push for 4K but not guarantee. However, 4K H.265 HEVC video file plays well.
