Hello all,
I tried the Buster image, and it doesn't boot.
I'm using a bootloader from the SPI flash (https://github.com/pcm720/u-boot-build-s...v2020.07-1)
The bootloader appears to happily boot the pre existing Manjaro distribution on the eMMC.

Is it expected that this configuration works?

I've just installed Armbian 20.08.4 Pinebook-Pro 5.8.11 desktop on my Pinebook Pro.
Just wanted to report that I successfully installed the latest Armbian image for the Pinebook Pro.
Easy install. Boot from SD card and installed to eMMC. No issues.
I even got a second display to work with an Anker USB C to HDMI adapter.
Everything works fine and it's very responsive.

Same here.

I am using Armbian for a while now on sd-card with LXQt and it runs very stable.
Also nice is that is receives regular pinebook pro related upgrades.

I can confirm that battery status work and also suspend to RAM seem to work too. It wakes up with no problem (running from SD card yet)

Also works fine after upgrading to 20.10.

Glad to know Armbian build's battery status and suspend to RAM works well on Pinebook Pro. Thumbs Up.

You may also want to try the 5.10.x dev kernel via armbian-config its definitely feels faster to me.  I
Although ive heard diskio hasnt been as good with 5.10 on other devices over pcie.

If you're familiar with the armbian build tool try the new desktop branch.  We have some new desktop options including gnome and mate.

Im hoping to publish some desktop preview images in jan.  Our next scheduled release is february
