Best Clusterboard Distribution
#1
Armbian still has not released a new image (even though they've had the fix for over a week now) and I was thinking about maintaining my own distro based on Alpine Linux.  It seems to be geared towards lightweight server style hardware.  Anyone use something else that is well maintained? Anyone have experience porting it?  I saw some threads for other Pine64 products but nothing in Sopine.

(here is their about page in case you've never heard of that distro)

Lazily tried their ARM64 build and didn't even see a boot come across the console, but that was in the middle of messing with a bunch of other things.

I was gearing up to spend my summer trying to port Alpine when all of a sudden Armbian started coming together.  Their most recent build works and I got nightly builds up in case this becomes a problem in the future.  As of right now, Armbian is good to go.

I'm just catching up on stuff so which distro is currently best to put on the SOPINE64 modules?

Would be interesting to have alpine working Smile

I just went with the armbian bionic in the end https://www.armbian.com/sopine-a64/

All worked fine no hassle at all. Got docker up and running in swarm mode on the cluster board (have external managers) only 1 module is playing up but gonna check that out another day Big Grin

How did you deal with the network switch problem on the clusterboard. I was able to configure a module just fine with the baseboard but it could not access the network once installed in the clusterboard. I believe I have read it is some kind of driver issue about the clusterboard switch. This problem has tanked my entire project and I don't know how to proceed from here. Please any help would be appreciated. Douglas

Can someone explain to me what the problem is with the clusterboard networking?

I have freedombox and archlinux running just fine with the baseboard, but when I put them in the clusterboard they are unable to communicate.

So far I have bought everything indicated:
* clusterboard
* (7) modules
* baseboard w/module

I have tried various distributions .

Please can someone give me a clue?

Did you try the Armbian images? I still didn't get around to test it myself, but according to some post here in the forum they seem to work with networking.

For the non Armbian images these threads seem to indicate a possible way to get networking working:

I had the same problem, I found a solution for armbian focal (ubuntu), maybe it helps you.
