Bliss OS for Pinebook

We really should move the discussion to a dedicated Bliss thread...
Anyways, two questions: 1) does suspend working reliably ? 2) Do you have an estimated ETA ?

seems to be mostly reliable, sleeps with power button, and lid close, and wakes with keypress or lid open. i did notice a couple wake events that don't allow it to fall back to sleep, so those still have a little work to be done there.
As for an ETA? Soon

All the other options and toggles from Bliss-x86 project are there though Smile
Here's a video runthrough!! https://youtu.be/DPsbtQBILe8

Is it running off of SD or eMMC in this video ?

So far, I have only been testing the builds running off a 4 yr. old 8gb SDcard, I figured that would give me the best user case scenario.

lol, best user case scenario Wink alright, well, it would be worth trying running it off of eMMC storage - as that will greatly increase performance.

Is it worth it to make Bliss OS main eMMC OS now or it is better to wait few updates?

Team Bliss is pleased to present to you
Bliss 7.3 - Pinebook

Although it might not act like it, this should be considered a beta build.
!!You are responsible for your own choices from this point forward. Please read the instructions and understand them before continuing!!

SDCard Install Instructions:
  • Insert your Pinebook SD card into your PC
  • Download the latest img.gz file from https://downloads.blissroms.com/Bliss/Official/pinebook/  from your linux or windows PC.
  • Then, using the Pinebook Installer, select Image, then browse to the downloaded img.gz file, and select that.
  • Select the proper SDcard location, followed by the Flash button. Then wait for it to flash and validate.
  • Finally, insert the SDcard back into the pinebook, and power on. You should see a Pinebook boot logo, followed by a few seconds of black screen leading into the boot animation.

EMMC Install Instructions: (adapted from here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4701 )
  • Download and flash the ubuntu EMMC install image to SD
  • Mount rootfs of the installer and delete the pinebook.img found in the installer
  • Rename Bliss image to 'pinbook.img' and copy the renamed image to the installers rootfs
  • put the SD into your Pinebook and boot into the installer

Confirmed Working:
  • Wifi
  • BT
  • Keyboard
  • Touchpad
  • video playback
  • Substratum
  • Root
  • Bunches of other stuff .

Not Working:
  • SuperSU will update, but not boot afterwards, so just don’t update.
  • HDMI extended displays will not work as it does in linux or windows, this is a current Android limitation. Mirror display using HDMI works well
  • Whatever I missed in my testing

Setup Instructions:
  • After the bootanimation completes, you will see a Android Starting progress bar on the screen. For speed sake, let’s wait till that finishes doing it’s thing. Then swipe down from the top, and select WiFi, and connect to your network.
  • Next, swipe down from the top status bar again, and you should see a dialog asking to setup a backup account. Select that, and sign into your Google account.
  • Finally, hit the Home button, and select your launcher (Select Google Now launcher for the traditional Android UI, or select Taskbar for the more desktop like, Freeform Windows based UI)
