Fuse in the AC power line?

Hi,

I got an AC power socket with a fuse holder and was wondering which value I could use for the fuse...

According to the wiki page the power consumption is 2.5W and the pine should work at less than 1A @ 5V (http://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?t...0#pid12060).
Using I=P/V we get something like 10/25mA for 220/100V. Would a 100mA fuse be reasonable?

Or, if someone is having a fuse in the AC power line, which value is it?

That sounds about right. There will be some overhead due to efficiency of the AC adapter, and you need to factor in that the pine64 will spike just over 1A in small bursts as it starts up (although the capacitors on the power supply should buffer those spikes).

I plan to use a switch power supply 5V 3A set at 5.1-5.2V and connected to the euler-bus. So far I did not use any fuse, but why not since the socket can hold one  Wink

Exactly... it would seem like such a waste otherwise!! I was about to say on second thoughts that 100ma @ 120v wouldn't cut it, but that was the exhaustion of the day making me move the decimal place to where it shouldn't be! That 12W @ 120v (nearly double @ 220v) will give you nearly three pines64 worth of power (taking into account power-on & load overheads)... or one very happy pine64 that can also have usb powered hard drives, etc, connected to it without any issue. 

For working out the power requirements, the advertised 2.5W is only when the pine is not idle (which is around the 1.5W mark - with ethernet and wifi), but nowhere near fully loaded (on linux anyway... I think it idles at a higher W on Android). That is nearer to just under the 5W mark... but I think it can be loaded up even more if you use some nastier stress testers than the 'stress' tool on linux. Since I know the board can spike to 5W during startup, that is a good minimum for safe running & startup with no other peripherals. 

Your setup sounds good... I run my RPi and pine64 at 5.2v, and they are all happy and well behaved, with no power brownouts or nasties.
