Pinebook Pro Upgrade?

The newly announced 3588S might be an even better choice: https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/01/12/...processor/

I would also consider getting a second-hand computer that isn't too old and wiping Windows with Linux.

Very satisfying! Smile

I use a 2015 HP Elitebook, decent business-class notebook, with fedora. Everything except the fingerprint reader seems good and it has been solid for a few years. I have a faster laptop for gaming but this thing has lots of RAM (24GB) and SSDs and it is about as fast as I can expect a computer to be most of the time. I think one of these, or a similar era decent Thinkpad, can be bought for 150 bucks used or 2-3 refurbished properly. I may get several more years out of this thing before I pick up another one, and between that and one of each thing PINE64 makes (and a couple of other assorted linux devices not counting the servers I run at work), i have all the linux I want, sometimes more than I really want. heh.

it doesn't get happy
it doesn't get sad
it just runs programs

Agreed. It's plenty quick, I have 24GB of RAM which means I have to run for a long time with a lot of tabs open to run out (it happens eventually, Nothing I run on it eats anywhere near the RAM chrome does, especially if I'm also running Tor and Brave at the same time), it's light, well built, battery lasts a long time after years of use. Really no downside, other than the new price is more than I would probably have paid.

They focus on the SBC QuartzPro64 first.

I think they said they have no timeline yet for the upgrade of the Pinebook Pro.

QuartzPro64 is available to developers. https://www.pine64.org/2022/03/15/march-...artzpro64/

System on Module boards could be the basis for an upgradeable laptop, or DIY laptop.
