Manjaro ARM Sway Profile - appelgriebsch - 04-26-2020

Hey,

after testing Sway with PostmarketOS I was really bought into it. So I checked the official Manjaro ARM Installer repository (https://gitlab.manjaro.org/manjaro-arm/applications/manjaro-arm-installer) for a way to get a custom Sway profile into it.

So I forked both repositories and added a sway configuration:

- manjaro-arm-installer (https://git.sr.ht/~appelgriebsch/manjaro-arm-installer)
- manjaro-arm-profiles (https://git.sr.ht/~appelgriebsch/manjaro-arm-profiles)

and did some test-runs....

The result is looking promising so far, and if you would like to check it out and give feedback, this would be very appreciated.

Recorded a short video of the current status...

The other day I figured out about greetd and it’s gtkgreet addon as lightweight replacement to a display manager... the basic setup is in place now and I’ll start with some customization of the used packages (e.g. wofi launcher)

Happy to announce that the first release of my custom #swaywm image for the #PinebookPro based on @ManjaroLinuxARM is ready to be released. Look for an upcoming blog post about it here: https://www.appelgriebsch.org

is this just for pbp right? it would be nice to have this same sway stuff for the regular pinebook... If I find some spare time I can try to do it.

actually it is a custom profile for the ManjaroARM installer script and could eventually also work with other ManjaroARM supported devices. I haven’t tested it though for those others in the list - only have a PBP Pro at hand.

custom installer and profile repo is here: https://sr.ht/~appelgriebsch/manjaro-arm-sway-profile/

Well… that was perceived far better and wider than I’ve expected and I’m proud to say that the #swaywm profile is part of the original @ManjaroLinuxARM repositories now, incl. all the additional packages and branding. Thank you all! here’s a little teaser

Based on the stable update of ManjaroARM yesterday I was able to create an image for the Pinebook Pro that can be flashed to microSD or eMMC (untested). Please find the details here: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/sway-profile/138700/31?u=appelgriebsch
