2020-02-20 Plasma Mobile image - MartijnBraam - 02-20-2020

The new Plasma Mobile image for postmarketOS has been released.

This one contains Plasma 5.18, the 5.5 kernel and a lot of fixes to make modem functionality work. If you already have a postmarketOS installation with Plasma Mobile you can just upgrade to this release:

Code:
$ sudo apk upgrade
... wait for a bit...
$ sudo reboot

Most of these changes were added to the repository today. The extra things added to the image are ofonoctl and the /etc/profile.d/sandboxhack.sh

Thanks, Martijn. Looking forward to trying out the build.

Could you please update the sha256sum file for the images? Also, is it possible to get a pgp signature of that file?

RE: 2020-02-20 Plasma Mobile image - MartijnBraam - 02-20-2020

The images uploaded there are only for quick testing, it's not the official installation method which is why there is no consistant sha256 sum or signature. The whole thing is currently manually managed.

If you want something that verifies everything with checksums and signatures you can use pmbootstrap to generate the latest image for it.

Fair enough. Thanks for the reply.

RE: 2020-02-20 Plasma Mobile image - rmgr - 02-21-2020

I've been having a play this afternoon with the OS installed on my SD card and I've noticed the following:

I can't figure out how to send an SMS with Spacebar. I've tried typing a number directly into the search box as well as adding my phone number as a contact and trying to select that but it never takes me to a message editor.

I can't seem to get the Screen settings menu to open.

Audio seems not to work straight out of the box, I've tried switching sound devices in the settings menu but speaker test and a phone call hasn't worked for me. I tried to do an apk upgrade but I ran out of space on the SD card. (I haven't resized the partition)

Overall I'm loving PostmarketOS though!

I noticed the outgoing sms stuff not working, neither from the contact browser or the spacebar app itself so that's probably a bug in our Plasma Mobile env.

Outgoing SMS works for me with the spacebar app, as long as I do not include any emojies.
If  emojies are included, the SMS seems to never get sent.

Ah yeah there is a bug with emojies, and it got fixed upstream already. I'll package the newer version which should resolve that.

Cool work. Before I try this image, what is the status for power management ? Generally for postmarket OS and especially the for various DEs ?
