Can it run Warcraft 3? - SageFox - 02-14-2020

Just wondering if the machine is capable of running a nearly 2 decade old game.

Some others I have thought of as well:

Halo CE
Red Alert 2

etc.

Thanks!

Your options are basically to try and get it running under WINE, I would expect.

It should run ok. The original requirements were for a "DirectX 8 Compatible Graphics Card". The hard part is going to be getting WINE running, but even that shouldn't be too much of an issue. You might want to get the latest version of it and compile it, since Debian's version might be out of date and missing bug fixes.

It probably won't run because the pinebook Pro is aarch64 while those games you want are compiled for x86 and wine only works well on x86, that being said, thero's a version of wine that supports aarch64 emulation called project hangover but for the moment it's really in an early stage and does not work super smooth, don't expect it to work better any time soon but it's in the pipes, your other option to play old Windows NT games is to install an aarch64 version of Windows 10 on qemu and this has an excellent x86 emulation... The gaming capabilities of the PBP are really good tho, but wanting it to run old Windows games is not an excellent test of it's capacities, you should prefer to compile ports of older games, like quake,3 re-volt, Doom 3...etc
