Pine Phone now and future - bcnaz - 11-13-2019

Will the Pine Phone Brave Heart support 4G  and  5G  ?
I hear that 3G is going to soon be history on most  Providers.
       Thanks

It will support up to 4G in most countries, US being the exception.

4G is different only in the US ?

So, The Pine phone will only work a few months in the US ?

I think it'll work on Verizon, but other phone networks need a different 4G chip that supports different frequencies, especially T-Mobile...

PinePhone is a great project! Hoping it succeeds wonderfully.

So if one travels to the US the PinePhone will only work where there is the Verizon network? Has Pine confirmed to anyone that the PinePhone
will only work with Verizon's 4G in the US?

As this is typed the Count Down clock on main page https://www.pine64.org/ says less than 2 days until the PinePhone goes up for sale.

This is no doubt a pretty big deal for those travelling in the US and of course those living there.

that sucks! The US would be a huge market for the pinephone. Why develop the hardware where it will not work on US carriers? Cost? etc?

I was looking forward to playing with one of these  Sad

OH Well,
I am getting a Pine phone regardless.
Hopefully if/when they drop 3G, Pine will have a 4G replacement circut board.

From what i was reading B2 and B4 are supported by the T-mobile in the states. If that is the case the pinephone should be supported in the US at least by t-mobile. Am i reading that correctly?

T-mobile supported bands:

pinephone bands:

Devs, Could we get some clarification on what networks and countries the pinephone will work with?

As far as I know there is only 2 countries it may not work with, US and China, the chip was picked because it covers everything else. The company that makes the 4G chip has other chips that do work in those countries but then everywhere else won't work.

Interesting.

Best guess? Will the default chip be user replacable with US/China compatible chip or is that highly unlikely or impossible?
