HW acceleration. Just been a while since any news, was wondering if anything had happened on it yet.

Well currently, Lenny is tuning the DRM portion of the kernel to get increased performance out of it. After this, once it is stable enough, it might be included in the normal BSP kernel. As for the HW acceleration itself, there is still no progress about the license issues.

Possibly once the DRM kernel is stable enough for daily usage, we would probably write up a Howto on how to install the drivers because we can't distribute
the drivers with the linux images.

Cheers Terra854 for explaining the situation. As a side note, have you (or anyone else) taken a closer look at this 64 mali userspace driver ?

Thanks for the update. If there is a way to support the development with microdonations, please let me know. If there is a way to help or motivate the solving of the license dispute by a petition or another way, also please share.

Glad to hear its at least still a work in progress. Using the pine for work but im dying of boredom in the slow hours. Would love to get some basic video or game functionality for these slow days.

Id also be interested in this. even if it was in a private manner as stated above.

For the distribute concern, under new MALI license, should be able to distribution with new EULA.

Nice. How en when would that have affect?

Guys, did you see that arm blog entry??

http://malideveloper.arm.com/resources/drivers/open-source-mali-utgard-gpu-linux-kernel-drivers/

From my understanding of the article, it seems that everything needed is already open sourced now isn't it?

Is this our drivers?

Anyone use this yet? Can you hint us lower lifeforms in on how to get it going?

That is not a driver, but rather sources needed to develop one working driver with HW Acceleration support.
