rock64 totally brick - dakobg - 09-02-2022

Hi,

I do not have any idea what happen

I have several rock64 but one of them look like is brick!!!

I think the problem is with spi u-boot (or something else?!)
I try with different sd-carts different images including erase and flash u-boot-spi
Also I try to boot with shorting pins 25+23 or 25+21 and release after 2 -3 seconds after power is plugged .. this not help as well

I open a ticket to pine64 support .. they totally reject me .. short answer was .. check in the forum this is software issue they will help

At power-on all 3 lights are on + yellow on ethernet port
serial uart show .. nothing just from time to time no senses symbols (and yes I'm sure I use/connect correctly work with all other rock64 )

My quick question's

1. any idea
2. is there a way to try somehow to reflash rock64 ?! (look like I cannot do that for SPI only)

I think the problem can be something else not in spi .. also power adapter is ok for sure

I do not want to RIP this rock64 in the garbage since the situation with the chips is still terrible and will be waste of chips Smile   but if I do not have other options .. Sad

Disconnect all connections except power and serial console.
(If there is a connection to the USB-Port, disconnect that as well.)

1)  Disable SPI (shorting pins 25+23 or 25+21). (shorting pins 25+23 or 25+21)
2)  If eMMC is installed, disable it with a jumper pin.

In this state, write an image that has been confirmed to boot to the SD-CARD and boot.
(There is no need to remove the SPI jumper during the boot process.)

If you get a readable message on the serial console, you may be able to recover.

If, unfortunately, you get nothing at all from the serial console,
Try pressing the reset button several times, and the situation may change.

If there is no change in the situation after several tries, there is little hope of recovery.

Did you ever get a solution to this?  I have a rock64 that behaves identically to what you're describing.  Seems totally dead and if I try to boot with just microSD and serial (and 23+25 jumpered) I can occasionally get a symbol on the serial port but nothing more
