Why is it that the Backers had the choice to purchase imaged SD cards and we have to do that ourselves.

Yeah, why would anyone want to buy a sd card with a several months old alpha version of an OS when you can make your own in just a few minutes using the latest available version?

Honestly, I'm not sure if a board like this is suitable for someone who can't or don't want to make their own sd cards. The only advantage with ready-made cards I can think of is that it's plug and play OOTB, you shouldn't have to worry about your card being corrupt. Otherwise you're paying a premium for a no-name card with unknown specifications.
