SMS app - Frost1776 - 02-06-2022

So I have a Mint mobile sim card in my PPP running Manjaro. I can make calls send/receive texts, MMS not working but I am not surprised and can work with that. I downloaded modem manager GUI and it shows my modem but says mint is disconnected even though I can do everything with it. Is there something wrong with it saying im disconnected ?

Also I can reply to texts with spacebar just fine but if I try to send a new text it puts it a group type chat with all my contacts. Are there any other any other sms apps I could try ?

Thanks,
Byron

I'm running Manjaro Phosh with Mint sim on PPP.

I go into settings, enable mobile data, and set my APN:
Name: Mint
APN: Wholesale

Then open up terminal and run "sudo pacman -S mmsd-tng"
This enables MMS

Then reboot the phone so that it is working, open up chatty and and enter the APN settings for MMS under preferences

I'm not sure which version of Manjaro you are running, but I assume entering the correct APN settings should work for Manjaro plasma similarly. I can send and receive MMS and group chats fine as well as browse the internet over 4G LTE

I'm running the stock Manjaro for now, I've tried most of the distros out now and prefer this in the early stages of all of them.

I will try what you said when I get off today.

My main thing is finding an app that works, when I'm in phone book and clock send message, it say no device to connect to. Is there a fix for that?

I'm not sure, I hopped away from the Manjaro Plasma to Manjaro Phosh since I had the phone for stability and functionality. Manjaro plasma is still a bit buggy and unpolished. I can send and receive calls, text messages, group chats, and pictures via MMS on Manjaro Phosh. For whatever questions you have for Plasma I have no idea.
