Are there instructions on updating V1.2a to V1.2b? - stozi - 06-02-2021

I have a PmOS CE (V1.2a). The wiki says the update to 'V1.2b' is 'resistor R1318 changed to NC'. Means 'normally closed', like directly close the circuit with solder? This sounds doable? Maybe? Anyone done this themselves? Found R1318 on the schematic, not sure where that relates to in reality though...

NC in this case is No Connection. It is listed in the revision history of the schematics. https://files.pine64.org/doc/PinePhone/PinePhone%20v1.2b%20Released%20Schematic.pdf
It's just below U700 https://files.pine64.org/doc/PinePhone/PinePhone%20mainboard%20bottom%20placement%20v1.1%2020191031.pdf

Have not seen anyone actually do it.

There are a few more in the folder. Don't know whose it is, or if it was successful.

Well, I did it, nudged R1318 with my dollar store soldering iron and it seemed to simply disintegrate. Phone boots up, looks like it worked.

i altered 1.2a into 1.2b. even though it was just removing one resistor, it was difficult. it felt like it, using rowhammer into fruit fly.

resistor is under u700, and it's tiny. placement picture is for 1.1, so some components could be different, mostly same.

yes, PmOS community version is different, there is another resistor up and to the left of R1318 that doesn't appear on the schematics posted in this thread, which caused a moment of worry for me, but it's ok. I believe my soldering iron is overpowered for some reason, which made the process go quick, as it immediately destroyed the resistor, but precision was key. I was a bit confused on how to reattached the back shielding of the motherboard. I was trying to keep the clips on the outside, but actually they sandwich the rim from both sides, so it's easy.
