What to do with my old board? - gizmuth - 11-01-2020

I have the ubports edition of the phone and I ordered the new board with the deal they are giving but now I wonder what to do with the old board when the new one arrives? Any interesting ideas?

I'm going to try and swap the Quectel modem for the EC25-AF version. Been waiting on a dead board to practice. But no one seems to have broken theirs.

How do they differ? I tried to look it up quickly out of curiosity, but with limited understanding. Is the EC25-AF more or less the same thing but with better North America-specific bands?

Yes, that is the difference. Otherwise drop in compatible according to the Quectel engineers I talked to.

Not exactly original, but you could buy all the missing parts and use them and the 'old' motherboard to assemble a second (new) phone.
The motherboard is the most expensive part of the Pinephone ,after all.
