I've not heard anything further about the local workshops idea. The replacement parts are cheap, but I've not soldered anything that small before.

The volunteer workshop idea was floated in one of the news posts but I'm impatient - I just removed the tiny switches with some tweezers. I guess I didn't mess it up since I'm typing this on my pinephone with a usb keyboard
There was a concerning bit when the board wouldn't go back in - top right-hand securing lug was a bit too tight but a bit of not-so-gentle persuasion managed to bend it enough to let the board pass.

I performed the VCONN fix on my board and bought the docking bar (which references the VCONN wiki page) and keyboard. Doesn't work for me even with external power nor does anything register upon being plugged as evidenced by dmesg. The docking bar and keyboard with external power register on other computing devices in the same configuration.
Anyone using the docking bar and Pine keyboard with their modded Braveheart?

The docking deck works with mine. Maybe related to anx7688 firmware issue so try a recent distro?

Please download either PMOS, Manjaro, KDE, or Mobian factory test build from wiki site, dd to microSD and boot up. During boot time, OS will flash new ANX7688 firmware to ANX7688. Just complete boot up will do, there is no need to performance factory test or flash build to eMMC.

Thank you. I downloaded recent PMOS and KDE images, but found this didn't occur even though it should have. So I followed this technique and it worked based on the output of the update process:

Once the firmware was updated, I found that the I could use the dock, Pine keyboard, and an ordinary mouse in PMOS fine, but that's not my target.
In UBports, these devices continued to not work. I then found that I could update the kernel through UBports' system settings and switched to that from the development branch. This updated the kernel from 5.6 to 5.10 and the anx7688 chip now shows up when I check with dmesg. However, the hub and devices still remain undetected and the anx7688 module shows "0" with lsmod.
So mostly there, but same general outcome.

I have had no luck getting my USB C dock to work in UB Ports, but it works fine in Manjaro and Mobian. I think UB Ports just doesn't support this yet.

I have an AL QZ01 M V10 "development edition" pinePhone.
It really never worked with USB devices and already damaged a battery. Could be possible this version (I think is the 1.0) also suffer from the problem discussed in this thread?
